Judging Period: October 29, 2022 (04:00 pm Eastern Africa Time) – October 29, 2022 (06:00 pm Eastern Africa Time).

Winners Announced: October 29, 2022 (06:30 pm Eastern Africa Time).

Eligibility

Who can attend?

  1. Individuals who are at least the age of majority where they reside as of the time of entry

  2. Individuals who are interested in creating a solution that helps to improve youth livelihoods

  3. Individuals interested in creating solutions for allowing users to get information about job opportunities and sexual reproductive health information and services in Uganda.

Image Release

  • Participant hereby gives permission to IFRAD and its respective designees to take, use, reproduce and publish any and all photographs and videotapes which may be taken of Participant in connection with the hackathon, whether such photographs or videotapes are flattering or unflattering, for any purpose whatsoever, without compensation to Participant.  Participant also acknowledges and agrees that IFRAD will own any and all rights in such photographs and/or videotapes (collectively, “Materials”) in perpetuity and that Participant waives, as to IFRAD and its successors, assigns and licensees, all personal rights and objections to any use made of the Materials including without limitation Participant’s name, likeness, biographical material, voice, accounts, and descriptions in advertising and promotions throughout the world including but not limited to radio, print, television, film, video, internet, and any other mediums now known and unknown.  Participant understands and agrees that as the owner of the Materials, the use by IFRAD of the Materials may (without limitation) extend to use by any of the Sponsors.

Code of conduct

Our hackathon is dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable environment and harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of the following:

  • gender

  • gender identity and expression

  • age

  • sexual orientation

  • disability

  • physical appearance

  • body size

  • race

  • ethnicity

  • nationality

  • religion

  • political views

  • previous hackathon attendance or lack of

  • computing experience or lack of

  • chosen programming language or tech stack

We do not tolerate harassment of hackathon participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate at the hackathon venue, this includes the following

  • hacks

  • talks, presentations, or demos

  • workshops

  • any parties associated to the hackathon

  • social media

  • any other online media

Hackathon participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the hackathon at the discretion of the hackathon organisers.

 

Project and Submission Requirements

  • Link for Working solution: Provide a link to your solution so that judges can interact with the solution

  • Code Repository: Upload your code to a GitHub repository and share the link to the repository. Make sure that it is a public repository so that the judges can easily access.

  • Description of your solution: Share a document that explains how your solution works, its features.

  • Video: A 2 - 5 minutes video presentation of the solution showing how it works

Prizes

  • Accolades for the best three solutions

  • Facilitation of $1,000 to the winning team to build and scale the solution

  • SWAG for all participants.

  • Meals, drinks and snacks

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

  • Value Addition:  Does the solution add value to our business?

  • Implementation: Does the solution offer a solution to the challenge?

  • Original Solution: Is the solution original or new?

  • User Experience: Does the solution offer a good user experience?

  • Completion: Is the solution complete?
